Pleiades and            Pt Reyes

Chasing light is the primary goal of any camera adept.  Light at night is that much more of a challenge as it can be fleeting, unexpected, uncooperative.  Taming it, even just for a moment, is what makes it fun and sometimes rewarding.  In this case, predicting what should happen and preparing for it.  A very clear, starry sky.  A veil of clouds lit by distant sodium vapor lights bring warmth to an otherwise dark and chilly night.  Framing things up to maximize the stars while capturing the black outline of the hills.  Then…laying in wait for a car to pass by and lend its unique illumination to the scene…
